Welcome to The Grindstone. Really, it’s just a blog, but Grindstone sounds pretty cool compared to “blog” now doesn’t it?

Since we don’t really know one another yet, let’s introduce ourselves!

Cornerstone Carpentry started with a simple idea: build high-quality homes that people can actually afford. That’s it. Really, you could stop reading here, because what more do you need to know? No gimmicks, no shortcuts. Just honest craftsmanship and a commitment to bringing homeowners visions to life.

What is Cornerstone Carpentry All About?

Our founders, Carter and Dana, started this journey because they saw a gap in the market, too many people were struggling to find homes that balanced quality with practicality. Not everyone is looking to build a massive, high-end custom home, but that doesn’t mean they should have to settle for something uninspired.

They believed there had to be a way to bring thoughtful craftsmanship to every home, whether it’s a fully custom build or a well-designed, functional space that simply feels right. A home doesn’t have to be extravagant to be special, it just has to be built with care, attention to detail, and a focus on what truly makes it a home. Pretty common sense stuff, right?

With that vision, they built Cornerstone Carpentry, a company dedicated to creating and improving homes that fit real lives. Whether it’s a custom build from the ground up, a full renovation on your space, or a carefully planned, well-crafted home that meets your needs without excess, we believe quality and comfort should always go hand in hand.
